Handcrafted writing in an AI-generated world.
Human effort is not friction.
Human effort is the value.
Shokun is a writing sanctuary where every piece requires human effort. Typed, not pasted. Crafted with intention.
Too much content. Too little care.
AI has made it effortless to produce unlimited text. What we gained in volume, we lost in trust. Most spaces reward more. Shokun is built for better.
Effort is the signal.
We don't ban AI. We don't make claims we can't prove. Instead, we design for human effort.
You can only write by typing
You can't copy and paste
You can't upload text
You can save drafts, revise, and return — slowly, thoughtfully
Just like handcrafted objects, the value is in the making.
The Process
Handcrafted writing in 4 steps.
1. Join Shokun
Writing on Shokun is intentional. Writers join and agree to our effort-first standards.
The first 500 writers join as Founding Writers.
2. Write in the Workshop
The editor is deliberately simple. No generators. Just a clean space to think and type.

3. Share With Care
Before a piece goes live, there's a moment to pause. Every shared piece includes gentle indicators of effort:
Time spent writing
Writing sessions
Revisions
Readers don't have to guess — they can feel the care.
4. Read in the Reading Room
Reading on Shokun is calm by design. No ads. No infinite scroll traps. Just writing that earned your attention.

Beyond the Sanctuary
Share a taste of your craft.
Every piece on Shokun can be shared as a branded card — a glimpse of your writing that invites people in.
